At TEŠ, HSE Invest upgraded the control systems for DEMI - water demineralisation and DEKA1 - water decarbonisation systems from PCS7 version 6.0 to PCS7 version 9.0. During the upgrade the software was also modified to ensure a more autonomous automatic operation of both systems whose operation is a precondition for the smooth operation of all three power plant units.
The DEMI and DEKA 1 systems are used for the demineralisation and decarbonisation of cooling water required for the operation of the units at the Thermal Power Plant Šoštanj (TEŠ). The reliability of the systems for preparing the cooling water directly affects power plant’s operation since the cooling water supply is only sufficient for a few hours of operation.
