HSE Invest upgraded the Vuhred HPP and Ožbalt HPP’s control systems as they were using the PCS7 version V5.1. The new control system version is PCS7 V9.0. Software of both control systems was designed using the APL libraries of the PCS7 software environment. When upgrading the control systems, new functionalities, such as SMS alerting, replacing the synoptic automatic auxiliary power supply switching with operator panels, and WEB access were included.
Vuhred HPP and Ožbalt HPP have been in operation since 1956 and 1960 respectively, and were designed as sister power plants, each with a 73 MW net capacity. Upgrading of their equipment took place between 2000 and 2005 and included a transition to the PCS7 control system.
